If you are in the marking for blazing fast network speeds, have a look at the LG Nitro HD which is a 4G LTE-enabled smartphone. When you are not in an LTE area you’ll have to settle with HSPA+. Released for AT&T, this would have to be the third phone of this kind after the Samsung Skyrocket and the HTC Vivid. This model is going to set you back $249.99 with a new 2-year contract.

What you get for the money? Well, it is an all-black powerful smartphone that has a rounded rectangular shape while below the display there’s a thick black bezel. In addition, there are a bunch of silver-colored accents and a dark gray, shiny rim around the face. The battery cover has a textured black finish which provides a good grip and it is manufactured from hard plastic. The eight megapixel camera at the back manages to take excellent photos and has a bright LED flash. It is capable of doing 1080p HD recordings.

One of the strong points of this model would have to be its exceptional 4.5-inch HD AH-IPS display that has a resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels as well as a pixel density of 329 pixels / inch. The company has stated that the display has 500 nits of luminance while being able to maintain the colors as accurate as possible.

Carrying such a large display, it’s no wonder that the LG Nitro HD is a big phone, measuring 5.27 x 2.67 x 0.41 inches and weighing 4.5 ounces. The smartphone is running on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread but it will probably be upgraded to the latest version of Google’s operating system which is 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It comes with the regular LG skin for Android-enabled devices, the one that has access to the system settings from the pull-down menu, a specific look and feel of the camera UI, along with an overview of all the seven home screens when you pinch to zoom.

Below that gorgeous display you will find three touch sensitive buttons for pulling up the menu, going home and going back. Above the screen LG installed a 1.3 mpx camera which is suitable for taking self-portraits and also for video chats. On the left side sits the volume rocker, next to the 3.5 mm jack, a covered microUSB charging port and the power button.

The LG Nitro HD comes with the regular Android features like GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, along with DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct support. Other than that, it comes with the usual YouTube, Navigation, Maps, Search and the rest of Google’s services. Also on board are other apps like AT&T Code Scanner, Live TV, AT&T Navigator and SmartShare.
