Even if many of us digital nerds like to use bulky and powerful devices to do whatever we want to, there are certain things that we should let the pros do. Such pros in ebook reading are Kindle and Kindle Touch 3G. These are the new contenders from the newest e-book reader range that Amazon launched several days ago. With this recent launch, Amazon tries to bring these two new models on the scene of e-book readers with the latest technology such as touchscreen displays and 3 G modules for the second version. All these are provided by Amazon at a price that many can’t simply beat given the fact that these are state of art e-book readers sold for a reasonable price.
This simply means that more users will be gratified with the opportunity of buying such e-book readers for an affordable price that many manufacturers still can’t provide. Kindle Touch offers a 6 – inch diagonal touchscreen that uses a different technology compared to previous touchscreen e-book readers. The sensors used for the touchscreen work in infrared but multi – touch support has not been left out. Potential customers will be pleased to find out that the internal memory provided is a 4 GB solution from which only 3 GB are available to the user because the rest is used for the operating system that now can identify documents such as docx, doc, pdf as well as jpg and jpeg, bmp and gif pictures. The manufacturer claims to have optimized the way the pages are displayed and the speed factor when rotating the display has been increased by 10 % compared to previous Kindle versions.
Many will find the gadget dimensions ( 17.2 cm x 12.0 cm x 1.01 cm ) and weight ( 0.213 kilograms ) slightly smaller than any of the predecessors. However, the display diagonal has been kept and better functionality has been implemented. The device is able to achieve a declared autonomy of two months with the Wi – Fi off and up to six and a half weeks with the Wi – Fi module turned on. The price for the Kindle Wi – Fi has been intentionally kept under $ 100 as the price tag is rated at $ 99 with the advertising version software installed. For an advertising free experience you have to pay an extra $ 40 that nobody could ever explain but will pay anyway.
