I was trying to update my new apple iPhone 6 with new iOS version and my battery drained completely.Even before i try to update,my battery was draining completely. Not sure if it is directly related to iOS 8 operating system itself.Any help is appreciated.

While you are installing the new iOS version, the battery may drain completely which will prevent a sucessfull update..There are quite a few things that we can do to prevent this problem.Apple might not come up a fix any time soon based on the media reports.

1.Find out which apps are using most of your battery life. This can be found out by going to Settings -> General -> Usage -> Battery Usage.UnInstall those apps which are hogging your battery and you can install them after the updates if you would like to really use the app.Apple like chats, google hangouts and other third party apps consume power even if you are not using them.

2.Switch Off app background refresh by going to Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh -> Turn it all off or off for individual apps. You can selectivly turn off apps.

3.SOmetime simply restarting the phone will stop the bad app which are consuming battery and will get things started from clean slate.

4.If nothing works, check with Apple if you can replace the battery and if your iPhone is part of the battery replacement program.

5.A big portion of your iOS device’s battery is drained by the display. By controlling display and reducing brightness, you can save lot of battery.

6.The auto-brightness feature of iOS OS uses a bit of battery power to adjust the brightness based on ambient temperature.By turning off this feature, you can save lot of power. To tuen the power auto-brightness off, go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Brightness > Off.

7.Another main feature which consumes lot of memory is location services which you might want to turn it off.

8.Turn the vibrate mode off if you want to save power this can be done by Open Settings > Sounds > Vibrate on Ring > Off. If you would like, you can also turn off Vibrate on Silent which will save power..

will keep updating if I have come across more tips and tricks to save battery power.
