The world we live in begins to resemble more and more the science fiction movies imagined in the past, as revolutionary technologies and inventions fantastically transform human society and perception with a staggering speed. We already have robots working in factories and even fighting alongside soldiers on the battlefield; computers of all shapes and sizes are everywhere as they are integrated into all areas of life and all levels of society. However, many unresolved problems still await solutions, with a simple yet complex hope that in the near future humanity's wildest dreams will naturally get resolved.

Reading thoughts is a concept brought closer to reality as there are already many devices that can read human thoughts even is full functional ones remain in the realm of the fantastic. The first steps towards this technology were already made by the researchers that were able to predict people's reactions in many experiments and even guess when the subjects will make a mistake with a time lapse of 30 seconds before it actually happened. Other experimental techniques uses infrared rays to detect the simplest decisions and preferences of people based on their analysis of brain activity. As simple as it may seem this segment is very complex and even if these technologies are still far from providing a device that can read actual thoughts in the true sense, the direction has been set and is just a matter of time before human minds could meet, for example, over a discussion on Yahoo Messenger or should I say Mind Messenger?

What Jules Vernes intuited was the possibility of going around the entire globe in just 80 days, but the idea embodied in this famous concept has been put to test and its limits were long way back removed. Nowadays, travelers could go from side to side of the globe in less than an hour, with the launch of a new aircraft called Lightcraft. It’s currently a concept in the U.S. military but the aircraft could reach speeds unimaginable before. Until the launch of this fantastic aircraft, following years will most certainly bring a whole new series of spacecrafts that could take off and land on runways of a conventional airport.
There are many other technologies that we could only dream of some years back but now we are all closer to achieving all the items Star Trek fans only dreamed of. We are just one step closer to the future.
