How many of you have been in a position to ask yourself: “what should I choose, an iPad or a laptop?” I had the pleasure of testing an Apple iPad 2 about two weeks ago and I used it enough to make an impression of how those features of it makes it worth buying and if the ratio performance / price is good.

First, I must say from the start that I would not pay 500-800 Euros on an iPad 2, when for that money I can buy myself a laptop extremely good and why not, maybe a Mac Book, second hand, for that money. The iPad 2, even if it’s at its second generation, has many drawbacks or I may be speaking without knowledge and it's a super gadget and can exceed the performance and utility of such a gadget like a netbook or laptop. I'll start by presenting the minuses, that the iPad 2 has in m opinion:

  • the lack of an USB port as such a port is very necessary on a daily basis because you can use a Memory Stick ( Flash drive ) or an external hard drive because the storage capacity of the iPad 2 is relatively small and even with the possibility of reaching a maximum 64 Gigabytes for the iPad 64 G, however, as the price can reach almost 750 – 800 euros this is quite a expensive. Also, this lack does not let the iPad 2 connect to any other device like digital cameras, phones, MP3 players or other gadgets for data transfer. This is a huge disadvantage; however, Apple has released an adapter for sale that can bring a USB port to the customers, but unfortunately it costs between 30 and 50 Euros and I don’t think is nice to get stumbled over and over for more money if you want what others offer for free.

  • The lack of opportunities to expand the storage space; many of you will say I repeat myself since I already said that the iPad does not have a USB port and thus can’t add a memory stick or an external hard drive but i am not repeating myself as this is another matter. What I mean is the fact that the iPad has not even a slot for an SD memory card, MiniSD, MicroSD, or any other types of memory cards a and the hard drive capacity ( even if SSD ) is limited to 64 GB at maximum price.
