The Canon IXUS range got a new member last year that still packs a punch even after a year since its launch: the IXUS 210 I S. The IXUS 210 I S is Canon compact camera with a LCD Touch Screen and represents the second device to use this technology from the Japanese manufacturer. The fact that it has touch screen comes in addition to the previous versions also featuring many new and useful options and upgrades for photographers. At a first glance, the Canon IXUS 210 I S amazes primarily by the big touch screen LCD size. The buttons have disappeared completely from the back of the small device, making all interface accessible via the touch screen. With a size of 3.5 inch anti – glare and multiple anti – scratch treatments display,Canon promises an even more enjoyable experience in viewing photos and movies with this model, even when ambient light is very strong compared to the previous models.
The screen features high contrast making it usable even in direct bright light, a feature not many can brag with.
The only buttons available are those for shooting and zoom along with the on / off power button to start and turn off the device. Virtually no device is easier to use than this one: no buttons confirm that the machine is configured to be used fully automatic, with user intervention minimized to a bare point and shoot. Of course, the Canon IXUS 210 I S can be all too easy to use for some photographers that might give up using it because of that reason. The lack of manual functions or detailed settings might not appeal everyone’s taste, but ultimately, Canon IXUS 210 I S completes the job for which it was designed very efficiently: a compact digital camera easy to use and fully automatic in the point and shoot idea.
Although compared to the 2009 model, the Canon IXUS 210 I S comes with a new image sensor with high resolution ( 14.1 mega pixels ), the goal still remains the same: offering built – in 5x zoom and optical image stabilization. If we talk about goals it should be noted that this is a wide-angle camera with a minimum focal length of 24 mm ( equivalent in DSLR cameras standards ). What Canon IXUS 210 I S offers is a cheap solution for those that are tired of too many manual settings. The camera takes great photos in automatic mode, a thing not many can brag about.
