Description
The Motorola Talkabout MR350R is a great tool for anyone who loves to be outdoors. With a lightweight design and rugged feel, you don’t have to worry about it being too heavy to carry either. While some radios on the market will break at the drop of a metaphorical hat, that is not the case with this one.
Here is a list of what is included with the MR350R:
- 2 radios
- 2 NiMH battery packs
- Emergency preparedness sheet
- 1 dual drop-in charger
- 1 charging adapter
- 2 belt clips
With the MR350R you ever need to be worried during an emergency. Along with the normal communication features comes an included emergency alert feature which can be used to inform you (or others) of danger when you are out in the field. With the simple click of a button, you are able to transmit a siren along with a brief spoken word transmission. Additionally, a built in flashlight will give you a bit of extra utility when the time is right.
The MR350R has a maximum range of around 35 miles, depending on whether you are using the FMR or the GMRS channels which are included. The range can vary depending on both the line of sight and the local environmental conditions which are around.
Even beyond that, you have the added functionality of NOAA weather channels to keep you apprised of what is going on with the weather. Everyone knows how dangerous it can be when you are out in the woods and suddenly get caught in a storm. With NOAA weather channels, you will be alerted to sudden changes in the weather conditions. In that regard, you will never have to needlessly stop what you are doing. You will be armed with knowledge, instead.
Included with the radio are hands-free communication tools and push-to-talk functionality. When you need that extra little bit of juice, just turn on the power juice for the push-to-talk function and you will be able to extend the range of your transmission a bit farther. When that is not necessary, simply turn it off and you will save that battery power. Additionally, there are hands-free communication capabilities for when you need your hands for other endeavors.
There are four simple ways to charge the MRS350R as well. Charging with a desktop computer is no problem, simply plug it into the USB port. A mini-USB wall cable can recharge the unit when you are out on the road. Car adapters are also available. Beyond that, you can use loose batteries if all else fails. With so many ways to keep the radios powered, you never have to worry about losing communication again.
The radios also include a limited warranty which will help protect you from factory defects or design issues. Assuming you haven’t modified your device, the radio can be replaced or repaired at no charge to you by Motorola. This is a great benefit to people who are worried that they might purchase a “dud” and should alleviate any concerns in that regard.
In all, the MR350R is a communication solution to a lot of different problems. If you are out camping and you are looking for a new gadget, this will suit you. If you are at home and are prepping for the next big storm, this is a good choice. Even if you are just out to have some fun with your friends on the weekend, this device is likely the right one for you. With the extra functionality added in, you can be sure to have a good time.
